Choosing The Right Self Storage Unit Size Is Key

Are you ready to transform your living space, or place of business, into a clutter free, open and carefree space?

We know how easy it is to collect surplus items, like furniture, boxes full of knick-knacks and sentimental bits, and items which you can’t let go off but rarely use or even look at. By safely storing your belongings, you can again go back to a clearer space, free from clutter and distractions.

Things to consider

We want to ensure that you choose the perfect unit size, therefore suggest you consider a few key factors.

  • Which items do you need to store?
  • How would you like your unit to be arranged?
  • How much space would you need in the future?

Struggling to answer the questions above? Below is a summary of our small, medium and large unit sizes.

Size matters - why sometimes a small unit is not ideal

If you need to store large, or what could be considered abnormal, items such as heavy machinery, furniture, and equipment, a small unit is not suitable.

Small units are also not ideal when you need an organised unit to access a large number of boxes, as then you should consider a unit with shelfing and the ability to group items.

It is impossible to know what the future holds. You might move house or business premises, or invest in large equipment. If you rent a small unit, you could find yourself running out of space quickly. Therefore, we recommend one of our large, spacious units to ensure that your items stay safe and accessible, with lots of extra space so your items can breathe, and you have future proofed your needs.

Bigger is not always better - why sometimes a large unit is not ideal

Are you trying to save money? Large units might not be affordable for everyone, therefore you could invest in our cost-effective smaller units.

Furthermore, if you are storing some small items, large units would leave a lot of unused and empty space.

Everyone prefers a quick and easy job when transferring items. If you choose a large unit, more time is spent when loading the container and trying to locate items. Small units ensure that no space is wasted, and all items are kept together in one place.

Our unit sizes

At Woodpecker Self Storage, we provide storage units from small Lockers to 320sq.ft large containers, to make sure all your requirements are met. Below are our most popular unit sizes, to help understand which size is best for you:

  • Locker - our smallest size unit, suitable for seasonal decorations, small boxes, or devices.
  • 20sq. ft. - a small walk-in unit, suitable for a small sofa, stacked chairs and desks.
  • 50sq. ft. - about the size of a garden shed, suitable for a couple dirt bikes, wardrobes and large furniture.
  • 90sq. ft. - one of our larger units, suitable for contents of an entire small house/bungalow.
  • 160sq. ft. our second largest unit, suitable for high volume stock, such as 200+ chairs, 15+ sofas or large machinery.
